iOS 26.x (iPhone) Email Account Settings for IMAP

Here are our instructions for setting up your email account on your Apple iPhone. These instructions apply to iOS 26.x.

Go to Settings.
Select Apps
Select Mail
Select Mail Accounts
Select Add Account.
Enter your email address
Press the Next button
Select Add Other Account...
Select Mail Account
Enter your Name in the Name field. (ex: John Smith)
Enter your E-mail Address in the Email field. (ex: john@company.com)
Enter your Password in the Password field.
Enter any kind of description you want in the Description field. (most people will simply enter their e-mail address or use something like "Work" or "Personal" or "Company Name").
Press the Next button.
Press the IMAP tab.
Your Name, Email and Description should already be filled out.
Enter mail.atlantisnet.com as the Incoming Mail Server Host Name.
Enter your E-mail address as the Incoming Mail Server User Name. (ex: john@company.com)
The Incoming Mail Server Password field should already be filled out.
Enter mail.atlantisnet.com as the Outgoing Mail Server Host Name.
Enter your E-mail address as the Outgoing Mail Server User Name. (ex: john@company.com)
Enter your Password in the Outgoing Mail Server Password field.
Press the Next button.
iOS will now verify your settings which could take up to 1 minute.
At the very least, you must enable Mail for synchronization.
Press the Save button.

iOS 14.x (iPhone, iPad) Email Account Settings for IMAP

Here are our instructions for setting up your email account on your Apple iPhone. These instructions apply to iOS 14.x.

Go to Settings.
Select Mail.
Select Accounts.
Select Add Account.
Select Other.
Select Add Mail Account.
Enter your Name in the Name field. (ex: John Smith)
Enter your E-mail Address in the Email field. (ex: john@company.com)
Enter your Password in the Password field.
Enter any kind of description you want in the Description field. (most people will simply enter their e-mail address or use something like "Work" or "Personal" or "Company Name").
Press the Next button.
Press the IMAP tab.
Your Name, Email and Description should already be filled out.
Enter mail.atlantisnet.com as the Incoming Mail Server Host Name.
Enter your E-mail address as the Incoming Mail Server User Name. (ex: john@company.com)
The Incoming Mail Server Password field should already be filled out.
Enter mail.atlantisnet.com as the Outgoing Mail Server Host Name.
Enter your E-mail address as the Outgoing Mail Server User Name. (ex: john@company.com)

Support for Folders Within your Inbox

When organizing email, there are times when a user will create subfolders for their Inbox, causing the folder structure to look something like this:

Inbox
- Microsoft
  - Office Subscriptions
- Follow-ups
- Archives
- Forum Replies
  - Forum A
  - Forum B

In the above example, you can see subfolders added to the Inbox, and even a couple of sub-folders of sub-folders (e.g., Office Subscriptions under Microsoft). From a webmail perspective, this is a perfectly acceptable way to organize emails. However, when attempting to synchronize these folders with a third-party email client, such as Apple Mail or Outlook, problems arise.

This is because virtually every email client handles the synchronization of these sub-folders differently. From a mail server perspective, this makes it difficult to account for every mobile and desktop email client. Therefore, SmarterMail is unable to support syncing sub-folders of a user's inbox with third-party clients. While you can create subfolders of the Inbox and access them via webmail, please understand that some email clients, like Apple Mail, may not sync subfolders under the Inbox properly.

Note: Folders and subfolders created outside of a user's inbox should sync properly.

If your preferred mail client is having trouble syncing nested Inbox folders, here's what we recommend:

Remove the SmarterMail account from the mail client (Outlook, eM Client, Thunderbird, MacMail, etc.).
Shut down the program to kill all connections.
Log in to the SmarterMail interface and move the nested folders from the Inbox to either the root folder or a different custom folder.
Once complete, start up your email client and add your account back.
Wait for all folders to sync. Once this is complete, your Inbox should sync properly to/from your mail client.

Setup IMAP using Apple Mail 12.x

To setup your Apple Mail 11.x or later Desktop Client, please follow these instructions:

Open Mail.
From the Mail menu, choose Preferences....
Click on the Accounts tab.
At the bottom, click the plus (+) button to add a new account.
Select Add Other Mail Account... and press the Continue button.
Enter your Full Name, Email Address and Password in their appropriate fields and press the Sign In button.
Verify your Email Address is entered in the Email Address field.
Enter your Email Address in the User Name field.
Enter your Password in the Password field.
Select IMAP as the Account Type.
Enter mail.atlantisnet.com as the Incoming Mail Server.
Enter mail.atlantisnet.com as the Outgoing Mail Server.
Press the Sign In button.
Check Mail for the apps you want to use with the account.
Press the Done In button.
Close the Accounts window.

iOS 12.x (iPhone, iPad) Email Account Settings for IMAP

Here are our instructions for setting up your email account on your Apple iPhone. These instructions apply to iOS 12.1.x.

Go to Settings.
Select Passwords & Accounts.
Select Add Account.
Select Other.
Select Add Mail Account.
Enter your Name in the Name field. (ex: John Smith)
Enter your E-mail Address in the Email field. (ex: john@company.com)
Enter your Password in the Password field.
Enter any kind of description you want in the Description field. (most people will simply enter their e-mail address or use something like "Work" or "Personal" or "Company Name").
Press the Next button.
Press the IMAP tab.
Your Name, Email and Description should already be filled out.
Enter mail.atlantisnet.com as the Incoming Mail Server Host Name.
Enter your E-mail address as the Incoming Mail Server User Name. (ex: john@company.com)
The Incoming Mail Server Password field should already be filled out.
Enter mail.atlantisnet.com as the Outgoing Mail Server Host Name.

iOS (iPhone, iPad) Email Account Settings for ActiveSync

Here are our instructions for setting up your email account on your Apple iOS device. These instructions apply to iOS 12.x. Note, your email mailbox must be properly setup on our servers before you can use Exchange ActiveSync. ActiveSync is an ADD-ON for AtlantisNet customers as we must pay annual licensing fees to Microsoft.

Go to "Settings".
Select "Passwords & Accounts".
Select "Add Account".
Select "Exchange".
Enter your E-mail Address in the "Email" field. (ex: john@company.com)
Enter any kind of description you want in the "Description" field. (most people will simply enter their e-mail address or use something like "Work" or "Personal" or "Company Name").
Press the "Next" button.
You will now receive an alert saying "Sign in to your "company.com" Exchange account using Microsoft?". Select Configure Manually.
Enter your E-mail Password in the "Password" field.
Press the "Next" button.
Your "Email" and "Password" should already be filled out.
Enter "mail.atlantisnet.com" in the "Server" field.
Leave the "Domain" field blank.
Enter your E-mail Address in the "Username" field. (ex: john@company.com)
Press the "Next" button.
Your account will now be verified. If you receive a message stating your account could not be verified then press the "OK" button and verify you entered everything correctly. Once you fix the issue press the "Next" button.
At the very least, you must enable "Mail" for synchronization.
Press the "Save" button.
Your account has now been added and you can access your email using the iOS Mail app.
